Alfia Biju, a native of Peravoor, won the gold medal in the senior girls 800 meters race at the District Athletics Championship held in Thalassery. This is the fourth consecutive time that Alfia has won a medal at the District Athletics Championship. She is the daughter of Biju Joseph and Jishi, a couple from Manjappalli, East Mavadi, Thondi. She is a second-year undergraduate student at Mercy College, Palakkad.
