General Rules

  1. It is essential to present your Identity Card upon entering the library and to swipe it at the entrance both when
    entering and exiting.
  2. Please ensure that all bags and personal belongings are left outside the library.
  3. Reference Books are available for consultation only within the library and cannot be borrowed for external use.
  4. Group discussions or combined reference work are prohibited inside the library premises. A quiet atmosphere must be
    upheld within the library.
  5. Kindly inform the library staff of any assistance you may require.
  6. Books should be handled with care and returned to their appropriate places on the shelves.
  7. Students are strongly discouraged from leaving money and valuables in their bags outside the library.

Book Issue and Return, Renewal, Reservation

Rules for Students

  1. Postgraduate students may borrow up to five books at a time, while undergraduate Students are limited to three.
  2. Research scholars can take out eight books, excluding reference materials.
  3. Each book is issued for a period of 14 days and can be renewed once if there are no pending requests from other users.
  4. Members can reserve books through the OPAC in the library or via the library’s website, with reservations valid for one day.
  5. A late return incurs a fee of Rs. 1 per day.
  6. Students are prohibited from exchanging or lending library books to others, including fellow students.
  7. Any damage or loss of borrowed books must be reported to the librarian in writing, and members are responsible for replacing or paying fines for such items according to government regulations.
  8. Final year postgraduate and undergraduate students are required to return all library books before their study holidays, and books borrowed for the Onam and Christmas holidays must be returned on the first day of reopening.

Rules for Staff

  1. Faculty members may borrow up to 14 books, while guest faculty and non-teaching staff are limited to 5 books.
  2. The borrowing period for all books is 14 days, with the option to renew twice, provided the book is not required by others
  3. A late fee of Rs 1 will be charged for each day a book is returned after the due date.
  4. All Department heads receive an HOD card.
  5. Any loss of ID cards or library books must be reported to the librarian in writing immediately.
  6. All staff and faculty are required to return any borrowed library materials by March 31st each academic year.
